The Climax Jazz Band

The Climax Jazz Band last Sunday celebrated 50 Years of playing together. The line up has changed quite a bit over time. I first saw The Climax at Harbourfront in the 1970s. Here is the most recent edition with Jack Vinken (banjo), Brigham Phillips (piano), Mike Lawson (trombone), Joe van Rossem (trumpet), Lorne Nehring (drums), Toby Hughes (alto), and leader Chris Daniels (bass).
Smokeshow BBQ (originally The ChicknDeli) will continue to host The Climax Jazz Band on Saturday afternoons from 3 to 6pm and I'll be subbing in when required.

Here are a couple photos of the band in action at the 50th Anniversary Party Sunday November 14th at Smokeshow BBQ on Mount Pleasant.
Jamie Macpherson (banjo), Peter Turner (trombone), Brigham Phillips (piano), Joe van Rossem (trumpet), Jamie Aug (drums), Dr Charles Wright (clarinet), Chris Daniels (bass).
Len Gosling joined the band onstage and sang 'I'd Rather Drink Muddy Water' to great applause. Pictured with Len are Peter Turner (trombone), Mike Walmsey (banjo) and Brigham Phillips (piano).
Awesome Jamie Aug set the pace for a fun filled afternoon of fine music.
