As a primer for this season's jazz series, acclaimed Globe & Mail music critic and CBC host Robert Harris looks at how jazz developed from a hybrid of sources - from European dances, quadrilles and operas to country blues, ragtime and American pop songs.  Bertie and The Gents  will be on hand to demonstrate and perform in this journey that begins with the blues, through to early Dixieland and culminating with Louis Armstrong's Hot Five recordings.
